- Day Three -
Your Favorite Neighborhood
Everyone always has mixed feelings about Twinbrook, and I don't blame them. It's not an idyllic town. It's cold, dirty, and the entire town--from the residents to the houses to the community lots--are all in need of a serious make-over.
But me? I love it. It's mysterious, intriguing; like any good set, it sets the tone for the entire play. It stretches the imagination, it forces you to fix it. Because it's broken. Like any good character, it has flaws--and I think that the set is as much a character as any one of the players.
To me, it's also the most realistic of the neighborhoods. I don't like fluffy-happy stuff. I like things that are real, not fake; tainted, not pure. Don't get me wrong, I think both Sunset Valley and Riverview are beautiful towns, but they're boring. I don't particularly enjoy boring.
Though, there IS one thing about Twinbrook that drives me absolutely NUTS: the outdoor lighting. Whoever decided that Twinbrook needed to have periods of extensive shadowing that looks in NO way realistic needs kicked in the shin. Seriously. If I ever come across a mod that fixes that, I will kiss the maker.
Anyways: Twinbrook. I <3 U.

Twinbrook's my favorite as well, to be honest! I just love the country feel.
Never noticed the lighting, but now that you mention it....
My pet peeve are the lot sizes. There are so many tiny, oddly pitched lots. I'm not a gifted enough builder to build around and incorporate the wacky levels. It's very difficult to build a house in one town and use it in Twinbrook.
I'm a practical momma. Atmosphere is cool but I'll always be practical over pretty. Not very girly of me.
Uuggh, the lighting is hoorrrible.. If things are murky outside I always wait for it to change before I take screenshots, sometimes even waiting a whole day if I have to. -_- Guess that's realism for you, though!
I hear ya, Chrysame. I've found several spots in town to add lots, but you have to be REALLY precise, and they almost always need some terrain work on them before you can build. It's deeefinitly not "friendly" in that regard.
We're different there, though! I don't care so much about practical. XD At least not in this case. I wouldn't say it's not being girly--it's just different priorities!
I love Twinbrook too!!! It's actually my fave hood out of the premades! And for the exact same reasons you have pointed out in this post!
I love Twinbrook too! Also, I got the mod, and I love sims 100 percent more!
Amelia, never noticed the lighting? LOL That's what I noticed the first time I played it.
I do like Twinbrook but yeah the weather is a little too overcast for me. I really liked how you described it in the words under your pic. Nicely done. :)
I never shoot outdoors XD I'm usually always indoors. I don't mind overcast though!
Bwahaha--I'm glad you all love Twinbrook too. The attention to detail is really *amazing* in that town. So is it in Bridgeport, but Bridgeport has the disadvantage of being way too club/skyscraper/vampire focused. Just not really my style.
@Jen: Yeah, the overcastness gets SO ANNOYING. I honestly am tempted to move back to Sunset Valley just because of it--but I know I'd regret it if I did, especially in terms of my story.
@LordCharles: YAY!! I'm so glad you liked the mod!! Honestly, *all* of Twallan's mods are stellar and awesome. There's very few of them I wouldn't recommend. :)
