- Day Thirteen -
Favorite Piece of Custom Content/Mod (Or the reason you don't have any.)
Since it'd be fairly redundant for me to gab about Twallan's mods--since I obviously use all of them and love them, like probably 80% of the active Sims community--I decided to go for something I really love that gets a lot less attention. And that is, of course, these absolutely fantastic pants!
Until the announcement of Generations, the Child stage has always *seriously* gotten the short end of the stick, especially clothes-wise. So, even before I really felt okay with CC, I went out searching for some better garb for my kiddies, and found these wonders.
Not only is the mesh awesome, but even the premade style options are super adorable--though I always end up recoloring them anyways. Honestly, even if you don't like CC much, I highly recommend them because they look like EA-wear and they are super dooper cute: you can download them here.
I should probably take the opportunity to say that, until recently, I didn't have hardly any CC in my game because I wanted to prove that you don't NEED CC to write a good story, or to get good screenshots. I feel that many writers out there rely on it to look 'cool', and then neglect trying to improve their writing; people obsess over how smokin' hot their sims are... and then forget how stale their sims' personalities are. It's obvious which is more important to me.
Why'd I decide to go back to using CC, then? Well, at this point I feel I have little to "prove", and I was bored with the current options. It feels nice to change things up now and then, anyways. :)

hahahaha So cute!!!
I knoooow, right?! :D I wish I had pants that cute when I was that little!
We had those pants in the '70's. You're taking me back, Kaleeko! My favorite pants when I was a young child was a pair of super flare Pepsi Cola jeans. They had Pepsi Cola ads, emblems on the jeans. We didn't have much money so I was very, very happy with this unusual "splurge". I wore them out. :P I looked for a picture but I only found red ones. Yuck!! *laugh*
Aw, I know what you mean about the CC, Kaleeko! I like to think I balance custom content and writing, or at least I attempt to! But we both know how much CC I have and don't even use anymore. It's a losing battle.
My goal with most custom content is to make it look like something that would be found in the game, so I'm kind of picky with most stuff. The one area I download just for the sake of being pretty is clutter- and that's what fills up most of my CC coffers. When it comes to my Sims themselves, I tend to stick to plain old EA vanilla! So that's at least forgiveable ;)
You definitely shouldn't feel bad about going for some CC yourself- at any rate, your shots have always been gorgeous with or without any CC addons, and you definitely don't have to worry about stale personalities!
Very cute. But here comes the cc vortex. There goes Kaleeko.... /tease
Very cute!
And gaah, Kaleeko, what?! You shouldn't feel like you have to prove anything, your story is amazing lovie. Up until now you've done well to stay away from CC for this long. ;)
@PiB: Haha, CC Vortex. XD Don't worry, I don't think I'm going to go beyond much except for some clothes, hair, and skin/eye defaults. I really dislike most CC objects and clothes, anyways--and if I get too much, I know my game's going to slow way down.
It is still really nice to have new stuff come out that I don't have to dish out money at EA for, though. I'm getting tired of giving them my money when they don't even bother to fix the game.
Jennifer: Well, I certainly don't have anything to prove, now! But before, I didn't want to be another one of those blogs that just slaps on CC hoping it'll draw people in. ('Cuz there does seem to be quite a few out there, sadly.) I wanted it to be my writing and my storytelling that got people--and now that I feel confident I have that, I don't feel bad indulging in some pretties. ;D
CC Hair is starting to really grow on me. I found a site that does re-textures I REALLY like, which was my biggest problem with them before. It is a bit scary though, it was like I was let into the candy store with a prepaid credit card... ;D
